You must meet the following qualifying requirements to be eligible for SNAP:
- Live in Georgia
- Be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident
- Show proof of identity
- Meet certain income guidelines
Do I have to work in Georgia to receive SNAP?
YES! A childless adult may only get the benefit for a maximum of three months in any three-year period in Georgia unless they find employment or enroll in a training program.
Unless specifically exempted, recipients of food stamps in the state’s 24 counties are required to work at least 20 hours per week or enroll in state-approved employment training.
Are Georgia food stamps available to senior citizens?
Senior SNAP is a simplified application process that makes it simpler for seniors to receive SNAP benefits if they are over 60 and meet the requirements. Elderly or disabled people who are unable to visit a DFCS office may do an interview over the phone.
