The Food Stamp Program in Utah, also called SNAP, is the state’s first line of defense against hunger.
Through an EBT card known as the Utah Horizon Card, a digital card accepted at most grocery stores, SNAP offers monthly benefits to qualified families so they can purchase an adequate supply of healthy foods.
Although anyone may apply for SNAP benefits, the program primarily supports low-income families, single parents, the elderly, and people with disabilities who need food assistance.

Issuance Schedule for Utah EBT Snap
Benefits are made available on the 5th, 11th, or 15th of every month, based on the first letter of the client’s last name:
- First Letter of the Last Name is: A – G = benefits available on the 5th
- First Letter of the Last Name is: H – O = benefits available on the 11th
- First Letter of the Last Name is: P – Z = benefits available on the 15th

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I use my Utah EBT card to make cash withdrawals?
Any retail establishment with the Quest or EBT logo accepts EBT cards to make eligible purchases. You can also withdraw financial/cash benefits from any ATM with the Quest logo.
Can I use my Utah EBT card in another state?
You can use your card wherever you are in a U.S. territory. However, just because you can use your EBT card nationwide doesn’t mean that all stores will be able to accept it.
Will SNAP benefit in Utah rollover?
Any benefits remaining in a client’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) account at the end of the month will be carried over to the following month.
